Newport High School described the 2024 season as "thrilling and unforgettable."
According to the school, special recognition was given to seniors Deshawn Anderson, Eric Eichert, Jaylen Hartness, Kyle Lee, AJ Lowe, Jay Sharp, and Rodzion Thompson for their "exemplary leadership."
Four members of the team earned Class 1A Region 3 All-District Football honors. These players included senior Jaylen Hartness (#55), sophomore Sean Hurry (#52), senior Kyle Lee (#12), and senior Rodzion Thompson (#4).
In the playoffs, Newport defeated Covington with a score of 35-0 in Round 1 and Ludlow with a score of 23-7 in Round 2. However, they were defeated by Kentucky Country Day with a score of 14-12 in Round 3.
The Wildcats, under the leadership of Coach Paul Wiggins, concluded the season with a record of 9-3.
